The Cost of Baby Nappies (......click to go back)

Websites that are set up to promote washable
nappies make much of the fact that they help save
money, compared to disposable nappies.

That's a no-brainer. The real question is, can
the busy mum and dad in the Ireland of today
afford to use washable nappies?

A look at any of the forum-style websites
that deal with washable nappies reveals an
extraordinary amount of time that is spent by
mums who agonise over which nappy to get,
which detergents to use, and how to deal with
nappy rash and other significant problems
associated with the use of washables.

The issue of smells that waft around
the house from loads of nappies washed at
too low a temperature is commonly brought up.

Even the use of 'natural' solutions, like tea-tree
oil are not without problems, as this oil has
questions to answer regarding potential
hormone-disrupting effects.

Ecobaby started out selling washable nappies
long before anyone else present active in
the Irish market. We have probably spent
and lost more money and time in promoting
washables, than any other firm here.

Based on that experience, we can say that
Irish mums and dads are generally unwilling
to save a few bob while investing more time and
effort in using washables.

They would rather spend some more money
on the the disposable Moltex Eco Nappy, for the
convenience, safety, comfort, environmental
protection, and effectiveness that it brings.

Ecobaby will continue to promote its range of
washable nappy outers, nappy liners, safe and
biodegradable detergents, nappy bleaches
and skin care products so that mum and dad
can have the products they want, at a reasonable
price.
